Murcia-born Donnie ‘Ahas’ Nietes earned his third world championship, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) world flyweight, after defeating Thai boxer Komgrich ‘Eaktawan’ Nantapech via unanimous decision at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, over the weekend, part of “Pinoy Pride 40: Domination.”
“I wanted to go for a knockout,” said Nietes during the post-fight interview. “[Nantapech] is really tough.”
For Nantapech, it was his first loss after 15 straight victories.
Meanwhile, in the main undercard fight, Mark ‘Magnifico’ Magsayo of Bohol knocked down Tanzania’s Issa ‘Peche Boy’ Nampapeche twice, keeping an undefeated 16-0 record.
Magsayo is reportedly being eyed as the primary event for the upcoming “Pinoy Pride 41.”/WDJ
