A 25-year-old man lost his leg, while another was injured, following a motorcycle collision with a taxi along Lacson Street, part of Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City, yesterday morning.
Police identified the victims as Kim Patrick Macawili and his backrider Mark Cyril Flores, 19, both residents of Barangay Dos Hermanas, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
Police Station 3 (PS3) traffic investigator, Police Officer 2 (PO2) Richard Dema-ala, said Macawili’s motorcycle was heading south when he collided with a taxi driven by Alejandro Burlas, which was executing a left turn in the area.
Dema-ala said, when he interviewed Macawili, he admitted he was travelling almost 100 kilometers per hour and was drunk at the time of the incident.
Macawili’s leg was amputated because of the incident; he also suffered injuries across other parts of his body, along with Flores.
While both victims remain in the hospital, no charges are expected to be filed as both sides agreed to a settlement./WDJ
