The Negros Island Region (NIR) picked up a gold medal in elementary boys badminton during the ongoing 2017 Palarong Pambansa.
The team, comprised of Joshua Miguel Cuarte of Talisay City, Clarence Villaflor and John Vincent Saturninas of Cadiz City, and Lance Gabriel Vargas of Bacolod City, beat out Southern Luzon, who finished in second place; and Central Visayas and Zamboanga Peninsula, who tied for third.
NIR picked up bronze medals in other badminton events, including the secondary boys and secondary girls divisions./WDJ
