The remains of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Sagay City, Negros Occidental are scheduled to arrive in the province on Friday, after she died in Hong Kong earlier this month due to exhaustion.
In a report by Bombo Radyo-Bacolod yesterday, the victim, identified as 46-year-old Leonita Quinto, died at the Princess Margaret Hospital last April 4.
According to Leonita’s sister, Imelda, her sister claimed she sleeps around 1:30 a.m. and wakes up at 5:30 a.m. to work.
Imelda said her sister complained to her employer on April 3, saying she was suffering from headaches, and was told to rest up. The next morning, she was woken up early to cook breakfast, but the headaches were still present which forced her back to rest.
Around 12:00 p.m. the same day, her employer found Quinto unconscious and rushed her to the hospital, where she was later declared dead by medical staff.
Last month, Quinto gave a one month notice to her employer requesting a break from the contract, claiming she may have already been experiencing exhaustion.
Imelda said she is now preparing claims against her sister’s employer, while her remains are presently undergoing an autopsy in Hong Kong./WDJ
