Capitol Boys opened their 2017 D-League Basketball Tournament campaign beating defending champions AA Electrical, 63-58, at the STI-West Negros University (STI-WNU) gymnasium, last week.
The two teams went into the half tied at 30-all, however, the eventual winners went on a 26-11 run in the third period, putting them ahead 56-41 going into the last period.
RR dela Cruz and Jireh Dayrit combined for 14 points, sealing the deal for Capitol.
Dela Cruz and Dayrit also led scoring for the team, with 16 and 10 points, respectively.
Meanwhile, in the other game, Akasya routed FilSino, 76-59, with Zoe Pandan leading the winners with 11 points.
Despite the loss, Bryan Solinap anchored FilSino with 16 points, with John Young adding 12 and Luigi Porras with 11./WDJ
