A delivery worker was confirmed dead on the spot, while two others were seriously wounded, following a collision between two trucks along Burgos Extension, Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City, yesterday.
Police identified the wounded as Arcone Pabon of Barangay 35 and Julio Iwayan of Sagay City; while the fatality was revealed to be Pabon’s passenger, 50-year-old Dennis Tambasen of Barangay Sum-ag.
Based on a probe by traffic investigators from Police Station 4 (PS4) and eyewitness accounts, Iwayan was driving towards Barangay Granada when he collided with Pabon’s delivery truck.
Witnesses said Iwayan was driving slowly when they spotted him, while Pabon was reportedly speeding.
Iwayan claims Pabon’s truck caused him to lose control of the wheel, which also ejected several cases of beer bottles his truck was carrying.
Pabon, meanwhile, was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) for treatment following the incident, while Iwayan was temporarily detained by members of PS4./WDJ
