WBO Asia Pacific bantamweight champion and Bago City-native ‘King’ Arthur Villanueva arrived in the United Kingdom yesterday, in preparation for his upcoming title eliminator bout against Zolani Tete of South Africa on April 22 at the Manchester Arena.
The date for the fight was originally scheduled for April 8.
If Villanueva is successful, he could potentially face Filipino WBO bantamweight champion Marlon Tapales for the world title.
“The world championship is my motivation against Tete,” Villanueva reiterated. “I’m confident of my training and preparation as well as my team.”
Joining Villanueva is veteran coach Edito ‘Ala’ Villamor and assistant coach Robert Etorma./WDJ
