Two people are confirmed dead, while another was seriously injured, after they were accidentally run over by a cane truck along the national highway, part of Barangay Guijungan, Cauayan, Negros Occidental, late Thursday evening.
Police identified the fatalities as 42-year-old Jenylen Albolaryo and Charlene Albolaryo, 37; while they refused to name the 17-year-old teenager who was reported to have been injured.
Cauayan police chief, Police Chief Inspector Rubin Pajarito, said the truck, driven by 34-year-old Juseus Galan, Jr., was traveling towards Bacolod City when Galan fell asleep at the wheel.
Galan plowed over the three victims, who were standing along the side of the highway.
Both Jenylen and Charlene were killed on the spot, while the teenager was rushed to the town’s local hospital for treatment.
Pajarito added they are currently investigating if Galan was driving drunk, who may face multiple vehicular manslaughter charges for the incident./WDJ
