The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) station in Bacolod declared a “full alert” status yesterday, ahead of the Holy Week travel season.
PCG-Bacolod Station Commander, Lieutenant Jimmy Oliver Vingno, said they set up several assistance desks in passenger terminals at both Bredco and Banago ports.
Vingno said they are expecting passengers to flock to ports by Wednesday afternoon, with some businesses expected to declare a half-day.
He advised those planning to travel by sea to start getting their tickets early in order to avoid the rush.
PCG also warned travelers not to ride colorum boats, while ferry companies were told to follow the allowable capacity of their vessels and avoid overloading.
Vingno added they will routinely check all ships before they leave the port to make sure they are safe for travel./WDJ
