In light of the upcoming Holy Week observance, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-Region VI (LTFRB-6) reminded the public to refrain from riding colorum, or unlicensed, vehicles, noting, in the event of road accidents, they are not equipped with proper insurance coverage.
LTFRB-6 director, Atty. Joscet Abellar, said individuals who ride colorum vehicles are not eligible for any assistance in case they are either killed or injured.
He suggests, before boarding a public utility vehicle (PUV), ask the operator for franchise papers.
“If it is a legitimate PUV, they have the ‘All risk, No fault’ policy,” he explained. “In the unlikely event of a road accident, the needed assistance will be provided to victims immediately.”
Previously, the LTFRB said they would be coordinating with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to inspect all PUVs operating in the province, in order to ensure the safety of the commuting public and that drivers are well-conditioned for their trips./WDJ
