A house owned by a senior citizen was victimized by two robbers at Purok Acacia, Barangay Pahanocoy, Bacolod City, Thursday morning.
Police identified the victim as 61-year-old Jose Rock Bermeo, a resident of the said barangay.
Police Station 8 (PS8) said the suspects, 22-year-old Kent Figueroa and a minor, whose identity was withheld, entered Bermeo’s residence by climbing the steel gate.
The suspects forcibly detached one of the air conditioning units in the house to enter and, once inside, took several valuables, electronic gadgets, and a portable welding machine.
The items stolen were valued at nearly P85,000.
However, as the suspects were trying to leave on a motorcycle, a patrolling team of barangay tanods spotted the suspects and a short chase ensued, ultimately leading to their arrest.
Figueroa is now facing robbery charges and is detained at PS8, while the minor was turned over to the city’s social welfare and development office./WDJ
