A radio announcer allegedly shot and killed his wife in Barangay Himoga-an Baybay, Sagay City, late Wednesday evening.
Police identified the fatality as 38-year-old Virginia Andalina, a resident of the said barangay.
Sagay City police chief, Police Chief Inspector Eduardo Corpuz, said, based on their initial investigation, when the gunshot was heard, Virginia and her husband, Modhee, were inside a tricycle.
The wife was then rushed to the city’s local hospital for treatment, but was declared dead on arrival due to a gunshot wound to the back.
However, Modhee claimed they were traveling on a motorcycle when his .22 caliber magnum revolver accidentally fired, hitting his wife.
Police have since taken the husband into custody as his firearm was unlicensed.
Corpuz added they are still looking at different angles of the incident.
Modhee is detained at the Sagay City Police Station./WDJ
