After Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog awarded 19 centenarians, individuals who have reached the age of 100, with P10,000 each last year, through the Centenarian Incentive Award, the Iloilo City Council recently approved an ordinance granting additional benefits and privileges.
Under the ordinance, the award was increased to P50,000 each, with the government allocating P1 million every year to fund the ordinance.
“Living to a hundred years is a milestone definitely worth the celebration,” said City Councilor Armand Parcon.
Qualified centenarians must submit required documentation to the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) two months prior to their 100th birthday./WDJ
