Two stores at Purok Roadside II, Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City, were victimized after store owners received fake P500 bills, yesterday afternoon.
In a report by Aksyon Radyo-Bacolod, one of the complainants, identifying herself as Elsie, said a Tagalog-speaking woman bought canned goods using the P500 bill.
A second complainant, who has not been named, said a man, who also spoke Tagalog, paid for mobile phone load with the other P500 bill.
Both complainants said the incidents occurred within a few minutes of each other and only later realized the P500 bills they received were fake.
The bills were identified as counterfeit when one of the bills was shredded after being placed in water, while the other was easily torn apart./WDJ
