Department of Education-Negros Island Region (DepEd-NIR) Director, Dr. Gilbert Sadsad, yesterday announced the region will be allocating P9 million to the NIR contingent competing in the upcoming Palarong Pambansa, set to take place in Antique from April 23 to 30. The appropriation is intended to fund for food and transportation.
Bacolod City Councilor Caesar Distrito, who chairs the finance and appropriation committee, said he will be looking into the possibility for the city to augment the financial assistance for participants based in Bacolod City.
NIR finished in sixth place overall at last year’s Palarong Pambansa.
Meanwhile, Iloilo announced they would be providing P10.5 million for their contingency./WDJ
