The trekker who was declared missing at Tinagong Dagat, a mountainous part of Barangay Patag, Silay City on Thursday was found alive by authorities.
Barangay Patag Captain Milagros Catalan said the victim, identified as 21-year-old Daryl Delocario, was climbing with 10 other trekkers on Thursday morning and returned to Barangay Patag proper around 3:00 p.m. the same day.
Catalan said, while the group rested midway, Delocario said he would return to one of the mountain resorts located in the barangay.
However, he failed to return and his fellow trekkers asked for help from local officials, who immediately conducted a search and rescue operation.
Members of the Silay City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council also participated in the search, but were forced to return due to darkness and heavy rains.
She added, despite the trekkers not securing a permit to climb the area, they would still do everything they could to find the missing man.
Delocario was later found on Friday near a stream and was rushed back to Silay City for a check-up.
The victim was later declared unharmed, but hungry after spending almost 24 hours lost in the mountains./WDJ
