Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. and Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson led the necrological service for former Negros Occidental Provincial Board Member and Don Salvador Benedicto Mayor Nehemias Dela Cruz at the Capitol Social Hall, yesterday.
Dela Cruz died last week of health complications at the age of 66.
“Please accept our deepest sympathy and prayers,” the governor said. “He will always be remembered as the father and founder of the municipality of Don Salvador Benedicto.”
Lacson read the text of a resolution passed by the Provincial Board expressing their condolences for the Dela Cruz family.
Similarly, the Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) also passed a resolution, penned by City Councilor Caesar Distrito, where Dela Cruz was described as “a principled man, a fighter for social justice, and a very loving provider to his family.”
Dela Cruz’ remains were transported to Don Salvador Benedicto following the service.
