Following an agreement forged between Guimaras Vice Governor John Edward Gando, the Guimaras provincial government, the Iloilo City government, and DoubleDragon Properties Corp., during a meeting called by Philippine Coast Guard-Iloilo (PCG-Iloilo), passengers will be able to use the Iloilo-Guimaras Ferry Terminal for free for the next 10 years.
DoubleDragon Properties Corp., who developed the terminal in a public-private partnership with the Iloilo City government, previously proposed a terminal fee, however, Gando noted, the residents of Guimaras were not consulted on the matter.
The ferry terminal currently sits idle, as it was supposed to have begun operations last year./WDJ
