When parents read the books of their children in primary school, they are often surprised by the content, which had been endorsed by the Department of Education.
Mothers have commented they could not assist their kids because they found their lessons a bit difficult. A father, who works as a corporate executive, found the learning process to be “heavy” for his son, who is in Grade 5, while another parent said there is a demand for tutors, in order for their children to cope with their lessons.
One mom suggested, instead of “giving students a difficult time,” educators must focus on imparting good values.
Good values must be learned at an early age, and if parents do not have the time to teach them, it is the responsibility of schools to do so. We are paying schools to educate our children and educating them on good values, rather than other very technical subjects, are more appreciated.
“Why teach our children what DPWH or DILG means?” a parent asked. “Schools should teach our children good manners.”
Moreover, schools should teach the English language and not Filipino, added an attorney.

Some Catholic schools have been incorporated into the Ateneo school network. The Santa Maria School in Iloilo City is now Ateneo de Iloilo, while the Sacred Heart of Cebu is now Ateneo de Cebu.
The Notre Dame brand is also well-known, with Notre Dame of Dadiangas (General Santos), Notre Dame University (Cotabato City), Notre Dame of Talisay, and Notre Dame of Bago City among their institutions.
