Iloilo to launch PESO services

In an effort to strengthen coordination among private and government partners to effectively facilitate employment opportunities, the provincial government is launching Public Employment Service Office (PESO) services with an event at the Grand Tower Suites on Thursday, March 30.
The event is expected to be attended by 134 participants from 130 companies, along with representatives from the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Iloilo Hotels and Restaurants Association.
Local officials will also speak on reforms diversifying the services of PESO, including Dumangas Mayor Ronaldo Golez and Tubungan Mayor Vicente Gargaritano, Jr., who will speak on municipal institutionalization of PESO; Cabatuan Mayor Ronilo Caspe on building and accessing the local workforce database; Tigbauan Mayor Suzette Alquisada on job fairs and special recruitment activities; and Maigao Mayor Macario Napulan on job seeker assistance programs.
Other topics to be discussed include the enhanced electronic manpower skills registry system (e-MSRS), the process of PESO job posting services, and persons with disability employment accommodation.
A consultative meeting on the proposed organization of human resource officers, formulation of complementary workforce development plan, input for the employment summit, and conduct of capability development for placement officers will be held in the afternoon./WDJ
