A total of 46 Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) police officers were recently deputized by the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
According to IPPO chief, Police Senior Superintendent Harold Tuzon, the deputized cops are authorized to both regulate traffic and sanction motorists through confiscating driver’s licenses.
Tuzon sought deputation after the rise of fatal road accidents over the past year.
In 2016 alone, IPPO recorded 146 deaths from road accidents and 3,603 traffic incidents. Meanwhile, from January 2017 to the present, they recorded 296 traffic incidents./WDJ
