Around 20 dragon boat teams are expected to compete in the 2017 Dumaguete Dragon Boat Challenge on April 8.
The competition will be divided into Standard Boat/300 meters and Short Boat/300 meters categories, split between open, mixed, and inter-barangay divisions. The Short Boat category will also feature a women’s division.
Prior to the race, a dragon boat sports clinic, facilitated by the Philippine National Dragonboat Team, will be held from April 6 to 7.
Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo called the competition “a testament to the city’s growing reputation as a sports tourism destination in the country.”/WDJ
