The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) passed an ordinance earlier this year that increases the monthly allowance for barangay health workers to P4,000.
According to City Councilor Em Ang, the author of the ordinance, the current allowance they receive is “rather small,” noting these workers serve as health educators, community organizers, and primary health care providers.
The councilor is also seeking to have the workers covered by PhilHealth./WDJ
