In partnership with the Sinigayan Foundation, Inc., the city of Sagay opened the 21st Sinigayan Festival, yesterday.
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Austere Panadero, who hails from Fabrica, Sagay City, served as guest speaker and congratulated the city on being one of the few cities consistently recognized for their efforts in protecting nature.
Sagay City Mayor Alfredo Marañon III lauded the city’s efforts supporting conservation and environmentalism, noting, “Sagay City is blessed to be the home of the 32,000-hectare protected seascape that shows richness and biodiversity.”
Prior to the opening ceremony, a parade, led by Marañon and Vice Mayor Narwin Javelosa, Jr., took place.
Later, the Bugay Sagay Village was officially opened, which features garden blooms, arts and culture with visual artist Nunelucio Alvarado, harvests from the land and sea, local cuisine, and livestock poultry./WDJ
