With the Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Ceneco) scheduling special elections later this month, on March 26, after elections in Districts 4 and 5 failed to produce viable candidates, the two previously disqualified candidates in the District 4 race both recently submitted their certificates of candidacy.
Former Board of Director (BOD) member Roy Cordova and General Alliance of Workers Association (GAWA) Secretary-General Wennie Sancho both declared their intention to run in District 4, which covers Bacolod City-East that includes Barangays Villamonte, Montevista, Alangilan, Granada, Estefania, Vista Alegre, Mansilingan, and Abkasa.
Cordova was previously disqualified following a case surrounding a delayed refund of P159,000 to the National Electrification Administration, while Sancho failed to submit a certification from the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-Region VI (RTWPB-6), where he is affiliated.
According to Ceneco Public Relations Officer Malou Parroco, their qualification for candidacy will be determined today.
Meanwhile, for District 5, which is comprised of Bacolod City-West, including Barangays 8-16, 21, 34-39, and Singcang-Airport, where no qualified candidates stepped forward in the initial election, Parroco confirmed no candidates have expressed interest in running in the special election./WDJ
