Police Chief Inspector Mark Anthony Darroca of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (NOPPO-PDEU) recently announced, between July and December of last year, they recorded a total 15,535 drug personalities in the province.
The total compiles both those who surrendered to authorities and the original 4,178 on the NOPPO June 2016 drug watch list.
Earlier this month, NOPPO Director, Police Senior Superintendent William Señoron, said the province is considered “slightly affected” by illegal drugs, noting 84 out of 601 barangays throughout Negros Occidental have been declared drug-free.
“A barangay is said to be drug-affected when there is reported presence of drug user, pusher, manufacturer, marijuana cultivator, or other drug personality, drug den, marijuana plantation, clandestine drug laboratory and facilities related to production of illegal drugs,” he explained./WDJ
