Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director, Police Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky, confirmed the watch repairman killed during a shooting incident in the downtown area, Monday morning, along Gonzaga Street, Barangay 12, Bacolod City was on the police watch list.
Police identified the fatality as 56-year-old Rolando Culson, a resident of Barangay Handumanan, who was shot to death by two unidentified gunmen using a .45 caliber pistol.
The victim sustained three gunshot wounds to the head, resulting in his death.
Culson was sleeping inside his stall, in front of Unitop General Merchandise, when the suspects shot him.
Wanky said the victim was allegedly known as a handler of local “rugby boys.”
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia said, based on information from the police, the death may have been the result of a war between groups involved in questionable activities.
Wanky said the victim was known as the one receiving stolen items from lawless persons and selling the items in the downtown area.
As of press time, police are still conducting a follow-up operation to identify the suspects.
Leonardia said Culson has a home in Barangay Handumanan, but prefered to stay in the downtown area.
The mayor believes it was easy for the victim to coordinate his transactions downtown, which could be why he stayed there.
Leonardia added he will call the attention of the BCPO to stop the practice of individuals sleeping in the sidewalk because, while it is not proper, it is now proven to be security risk./WDJ
