The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) meetings scheduled in Bacolod City, at the SMX Convention Center from March 22 to 23, will focus on ASEAN awareness.
The meeting will be comprised of the ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting Responsible for Information (SOMRI), chaired by Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Undersecretary Noel George Puyat.
“It is the responsibility of SOMRI to identify policies and cooperation initiatives that will improve, not only awareness of ASEAN, but effectively garner the participation of
its citizens in the continuing process of ASEAN community building,” he said. “Central to our communication efforts is the promotion of ASEAN as a community of opportunities, highlighting the benefits that member states and their citizens get to enjoy because of this regional cooperation.”
Puyat noted the agenda will focus on determining strategies to intensify the promotion campaign, along with policy recommendation for the information and media sectors.
The group is also expected to discuss the progress of program implementation and organizing joint activities within the ASEAN information sector. /WDJ
