A suspected carnapper was killed on Thursday evening at Purok Paho 2, Bangga Trinity, Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City.
Police identified the suspect and fatality as 26-year-old Bryan Chavez, a resident of Purok Cagaycay, Barangay 2 in the said city.
Police Station 4 (PS4) chief, Police Senior Inspector Elmer Bonilla, said Chavez’s victim was trying to open the gate of their house in Villamonte so he could park his motorcycle inside when Chavez jumped onto the motorcycle and sped away.
Chavez’s victim immediately called his brother, identified as 23-year-old Jayson Bryle Sia, who immediately boarded his dad’s pickup truck and chased after the suspect.
Upon reaching the area of Bangga Trinity, Sia repeatedly blew his vehicle’s horn in an attempt to order Chavez to halt the motorcycle.
The suspect, however, suddenly stopped and Sia accidentally bumped the motorcycle and ran over the suspect.
Chavez died on the scene due to a fatal head injury, while Sia was taken into custody by police following the incident.
Bonilla added they are still waiting for the decision of Chavez’s family if they will file the charges of vehicular manslaughter against Sia.
Sia is currently detained at PS4./WDJ
