Following the Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Ceneco) Board of Director elections in three of their districts, one new director was recently proclaimed while the other two confirmed a failure of the conduct of election after they were unable to produce qualified candidates.
In District 8 (Talisay), Noel Alarcon ran unopposed and was named to the board of directors.
However, neither Districts 4 nor 5 had qualified candidates for the positions.
In District 4, which covers Bacolod City-East that includes Barangays Villamonte, Montevista, Alangilan, Granada, Estefania, Vista Alegre, Mansilingan, and Abkasa, former Board of Director Roy Cordova and General Alliance of Workers Association (GAWA) Secretary-General Wennie Sancho were both disqualified from the race.
For District 5, which is comprised of Bacolod City-West, including Barangays 8-16, 21, 34-39, and Singcang-Airport, no qualified candidates stepped forward.
The current board of each district passed resolutions confirming a failure of the conduct of election due to disqualification of candidates.
Ceneco announced special elections will be held at a later date for the two districts./WDJ
