Soldiers accused of murdering members of Capiz family

The Borres family of Maayon, Capiz claim two members of their family were killed by soldiers of the Philippine Army 61st Infantry Battalion (61 IB).
According to reports, 48-year-old Lorendo Borres and 24-year-old Ian Borres were killed during an encounter on February 24.
The family, including Maayon Mayor Wilfredo Borres, insist the two were not members of the New People’s Army (NPA).
They also cited an investigation by the Karapatan group that said the two were not associated with the NPA.
The family also expressed their disappointment in the army for not speaking up on the issue./WDJ
