The Iloilo City Population Office is set to expand the You-for-You (U4U) Teen Trail, a teen abstinence program, which has already been implemented at Jalandoni Memorial National High School, Fort San Pedro National High School, and Mandurriao National High School.
“We plan to run the U4U Teen Trail in two other public schools,” said City Population Program Officer II Rachelle Lapascua, “Ramon Avanceña National High School and Iloilo City National High School.”
U4U aims to deliver critical information to Filipino teens, aged 10-19, to prevent teen pregnancy and reduce the prevalence of sexually transmitted infections through online and mobile platforms.
Last year, Kapuso star Miguel Tanfelix served as a U4U Teen Trail facilitator.
Besides teen pregnancy, the program also focuses on self-identity, friendship, life skills, and teen health advocacy.
According to the Iloilo City Population Office, there were 1,753 cases of teen pregnancy in the city last year, with 18 of them being girls between the ages of 10 and 14./WDJ
