Beer na Beer, the Fil-Sino selection, defeated Talisay Gwapo-Sunkist, 99-88, in the Class A championship of the Fil-Sino Athletic Club-Asia Brewery Invitational Cup 2017 at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School gym.
Talisay Gwapo led 25-23 after the first period, however, Beer na Beer pulled ahead, leading 47-43 at the half.
The Fil-Sino selection extended their lead to 10 points in the third quarter, going into the final quarter up 69-59.
Despite Sonny Abaring scoring 11 points and Brian Alunan adding seven in the fourth quarter for Talisay Gwapo, it still was not enough to overcome the deficit.
Beer na Beer was led by Carlo Chu with 21 points, followed by Arnol Laureño with 19, Sean Wee – 13, and Leo Bat-og – 12.
At press time, ESJ & Sons and Manila Beer Light are playing for the Class B title./WDJ
