The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) will review their deployment plans in Bacolod City, following the robbery and rape of a call center agent in Barangay Mansilingan, last Wednesday morning.
BCPO director, Police Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky, said there is a need to review the regulation on tricycles in the city, especially colorum operators and those who work during late evenings and early morning hours.
Besides the regulation of the tricycles, Wanky also appealed to evening commuters to be more careful, and assured they will further increase police visibility during night time.
Police Station 7 (PS7) commander, Police Chief Inspector Charles Gever, meanwhile, stated in a radio interview that they will file the criminal cases of robbery and rape against the suspect, Virgilio Villaflor, once it is proven he was one of the perpetrators involved in the incident.
Villaflor was earlier nabbed on Thursday afternoon at PS7, after trying to clear his name over the incident. However, the victim positively identified him and so he was detained by police.
The suspect denied his involvement, claiming he was with his family in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental during the time of the incident.
Last Wednesday, the call center agent was allegedly robbed and raped by two tricycle riding suspects.
The victim was initially picked up at Purok San Jose, Barangay Alijis, and requested to be brought to her workplace along Lacson street.
Upon reaching Barangay Taculing, however, the suspects held her at gun and knifepoint.
The suspects brought her to Barangay Mansilingan, where she was allegedly raped and robbed by the two, before dropping her off to La Salle Ville Subdivision in the said barangay.
Villaflor has since been released from PS7 custody as charges have yet to be filed, while the second suspect is now being hunted down by police./WDJ
