Ceres-Negros FC opened their 2017 AFC Cup Group G match against Tampines Rovers FC of Singapore with a goal in the first minute, leading to their first victory in this season’s group stage, winning 5-0 before a home crowd at the Panaad Park and Stadium, last night.
Midfielder Iain Ramsay opened the scoring with a long range shot that sailed out of the Rovers goalkeeper Izwan Mahbud’s reach and into the back of the goal. That score was doubled in the 25th minute with a goal from forward Bienvenido Marañón, after finding an open goal with Mahbud out of position.
Just over 10 minutes later, midfielder Manuel Ott made it 3-0 in the 38th minute.
The goals continued after the half, with Marañón securing a brace in the 64th minute after chipping the ball over the keeper and celebrating with a Cristiano Ronaldo-inspired pose before the hometown supporters.
Fernando Rodríguez kept up the scoring for Ceres, making it 5-0 in the 72nd minute.
With less than 10 minutes left in the match, midfielder Carli de Murga was stretchered off after experiencing, what appeared to be, a twisted ankle.
With the win, Ceres currently leads Group G with four points and Rovers trails by one point. Earlier in the day, Hà Nội FC and Felda United played to a 1-1 draw, putting them in the third and fourth positions, respectively.
