Kanlaon Volcano had another moderate explosive eruption at 6:07 p.m. yesterday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The eruption produced a massive ash column that rose approximately five kilometers into the sky before drifting toward the southeast and northeast directions.
This marks the third recorded eruptive event of the volcano this year, following similar eruptions on February 19 and February 26.
Despite the latest activity, Alert Level 2 remains in effect over Kanlaon Volcano, indicating ongoing volcanic unrest.
Authorities continue to strictly prohibit entry into the four-kilometer permanent danger zone surrounding the volcano due to potential hazards such as sudden eruptions, ashfall and volcanic projectiles.
Phivolcs urged local government units and residents near the volcano to remain vigilant and follow safety advisories as monitoring of Kanlaon’s activity continues./CJ, WDJ
