A 76-year-old senior citizen died while her companion was injured after they were struck by a truck on the corner of Araneta Avenue and Alijis-Murcia Road in Bacolod City’s Barangay Singcang-Airport on Wednesday afternoon, March 11.

Police said the victim, identified only as “Teresita,” a resident of Barangay Sum-ag, was rushed by ambulance to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital but was later declared dead.

Her companion, identified as “Gretel,” 67 years old, from Barangay Taculing, sustained injuries and was brought to Bacolod Adventist Medical Center for medical treatment.

The truck driver, identified as “Faustino,” 66 years old, a resident of Barangay Alijis, was also taken to the hospital following the incident.

He is currently under police custody at the custodial facility of Bacolod City Police Office Station 8.

Initial investigation revealed that the two pedestrians were standing at the roadside when the truck, which was turning from the southbound lane of Araneta Avenue toward Alijis, struck them./CJ, WDJ
