An 18-year-old female student was injured after being accidentally hit by fireworks during a display at Barangay Camugao in Negros Occidental’s Kabankalan City on the night of December 24.
Police identified the victim as a resident of Sitio Patay, Barangay Camugao.
The incident occurred at around 10:30 p.m. while the victim was watching a fireworks display in their barangay.
Hospital personnel confirmed that the victim was brought to the hospital after she sustained blast burn injuries to her abdomen and forearm caused by fireworks.
She was treated and later advised to go home after receiving medical attention.
Following the hospital coordination, police proceeded to the victim’s residence to conduct an investigation.
Initial findings revealed that the injuries were accidental and occurred while the victim was merely watching the fireworks display.
Police authorities once again reminded the public to observe safety precautions during fireworks displays, especially during the holiday season, to prevent similar incidents./CJ, WDJ
