A 27-year-old nephew caught in an affair with his uncle’s live-in partner was injured after he was hacked with an axe by the latter at Barangay La Granja in Negros Occidental’s La Carlota City on Sunday, December 28.

The victim was identified as alias “Anton,” a migrant worker from Antique, currently working in Negros Occidental under a sugarcane cutting contract.

The suspect, 36-year-old alias “Jim,” Anton’s uncle, was arrested.

Police investigation showed Jim allegedly hacked Anton with an axe after he was caught naked on top of his live-in partner, 34-year-old alias Klang, at their barracks in Hacienda Palencia.

The attack caused injuries to Anton’s head and other parts of the body.

In an exclusive interview with dyHB RMN Bacolod, Klang said she was staying in the barracks with Jim, Anton and other companions during a drinking session.

By 1:00 a.m., Jim left the barracks with the others, leaving her and Anton behind.

She claimed that Anton, who was reportedly intoxicated, approached her in the room.

Klang said she complied because Anthony was too strong but emphasized that there was no romantic relationship between them, and they maintained distance.

When Jim returned home around 8:00 a.m., he found Anton on top of his live-in partner.

Enraged, he allegedly grabbed an axe and struck his nephew, causing serious injuries.

The injured nephew was rushed to Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial District Hospital for treatment and is currently recovering.

Jim is now under police custody for proper disposition and the filing of appropriate charges./CJ, WDJ
