Negrenses urged to ensure safety at holiday revelries

The Police Regional Office in the Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) reminds the public to exercise caution throughout the holiday celebrations.

PRO-NIR urges citizens to be vigilant and adopt basic safety practices, such as securing homes and valuables, being alert in crowded areas like malls, markets, churches, and transport terminals, and strictly observing traffic laws.

The police also remind the public to follow local ordinances on firecrackers and pyrotechnics, observe fire safety precautions, and closely supervise children to prevent injuries.

As they reiterate safety and security measures to maintain peace and order this holiday season, the police are implementing heightened measures, including increased police visibility through intensified patrols, strategic checkpoints and close coordination with local government units, agencies and force multipliers.

Furthermore, the police encouraged citizens to report suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station, local emergency numbers, or the nationwide emergency hotline 911.

Meanwhile, PRO-NIR Regional Director Brigadier General Arnold Thomas Ibay reiterated the importance of the public cooperating with authorities to preserve order and safety amid the celebrations.

“As we celebrate the Yuletide season, we call on everyone to stay alert, responsible and cooperative. Public safety is a shared responsibility, and with the active participation of our communities, we can ensure a peaceful, orderly and joyful Christmas and New Year for all Negrenses,” Ibay said.

With increased travel, social gatherings and the holiday rush, PRO-NIR has expressed its full commitment to keeping communities safe for a more solemn and meaningful Christmas and New Year celebrations. (PIA Negros Occidental)
