The Police Regional Office in the Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) reported a generally peaceful, safe and secure Christmas celebration across the region, as intensified security measures and strong community cooperation helped ensure a smooth observance of the holiday.
In preparation for the Yuletide season, PRO-NIR implemented heightened police visibility through increased patrols, the establishment of checkpoints in strategic locations, and the activation of rapid-response teams to immediately address any potential incidents.
These proactive efforts played a crucial role in maintaining public order and preventing untoward incidents.
Police personnel were also deployed to churches, transport terminals, commercial centers, and other convergence areas to ensure the safety of residents participating in religious activities and family gatherings.
Beyond security operations, officers actively engaged with the public by providing safety reminders and extending assistance to motorists, travelers and holiday-goers.
PRO-NIR director Police Brigadier General Arnold Thomas Ibay commended both the dedication of police personnel and the cooperation of the public in upholding peace and order throughout the celebration.
“Christmas is a time of joy and togetherness, and it is also a shared responsibility to keep our communities safe. The commitment of our officers, coupled with the vigilance and cooperation of our citizens, made this peaceful celebration possible,” Ibay said.
As the holiday season continues, PRO-NIR assured the public that security operations will remain in place to sustain peace and order across the region, reaffirming its commitment to protect lives, serve communities, and ensure that every celebration is marked by safety and harmony./CJ, WDJ
