The Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts stamped its class in grassroots volleyball after completing a rare double championship in the Big Four Season 4 girls’ volleyball tournament, clinching both the 13-and-under and 15-and-under divisions in Cebu City.
Handled by head coach Ian Macariola, with assistants Gersan Banzuela and Brahm Cadeliña, the Tay Tung squads turned back tough challenges to sweep the two age-group crowns.
The Thunderbolts 15-U team sealed its championship with a finals win over Sanjus Cebuana, following a convincing semifinal victory against Sibonga, Cebu.
The title drive was anchored by Samantha Yssobel Cañete and Mary Regine Wongyan, who were both named Most Valuable Players, while Marishka Alexandria Andrada earned the Best Setter award.
Also suiting up for the 15-U champions were Czarina Aleksi Ang, Rayne Angela dela Cruz, Annicka Zoe Chua, Mari Antoinette Cacho, Xadre Zade España, Nicole Getino, Jessica Jayne Soco, Ariane Mae Alayon, Chennie Mie Millama, Sheree Frederiz Uy, and Gail Ordaniel.
In the 13-U division, the Thunderbolts continued their strong showing by ousting DCES Cebu in the semifinals before overcoming Sanjus Cebuana in the championship match.
Annicka Zoe Chua was named MVP after a standout performance, while Dela Cruz took home the Best Setter honor.
Rheatyshia Khate Lim was awarded Best Middle Blocker, and Millama claimed Best Libero.
Rounding out the 13-U roster were Ang, Cacho, Uy, Ordaniel, Madison Garcia, Princess Chenny Auditor, and Jana Bhaje Cadeliña.
With the twin titles, Bacolod Tay Tung High School reaffirmed the strength of its volleyball development program, showcasing depth and discipline across both age-group competitions./ASC, WDJ
