The Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts captured the championship of the Iloilo 1st Governor’s National Cup after defeating Parola Panaon Misamis in the finals at the Iloilo Sports Complex.
Paul Adrian Barcelona led the Thunderbolts’ title run and was named Most Valuable Player, while also earning a spot in the tournament’s Mythical 5.
Aside from Barcelona, others who made their presence felt for the Thunderbolts are Alexander II Atiles, Ae-Jay Aurelio, Jerry III Binguan, and Kert Jacob Espanola.
Also part of the Bacolod Tay Tung High School roster were Vinz Khystoff Lapore, Third Sebuan, John Steven Sondia, Michael Kirk Velasco, Alfred Ysulan Jr., Seth Guarino, and Johndave Parojinog.
The Thunderbolts were coached by head coach Atoy Callora Jr., with DenDen Velez and Steven Seriritan serving as assistant coaches.
Gabby Velasco was the team consultant, while Brian Tan acted as team manager.
The Iloilo 1st Governor’s National Cup featured a six-team league composed of Colegio de San Juan de Letran Squires, Iloilo Doctors College, St. Robert’s, and St. John’s Institute, drawing competitive action throughout the tournament./ASC, WDJ
