A total of 84 families in Bago City, Negros Occidental severely affected by Typhoon “Tino” have received shelter recovery assistance from concerned national government agencies.
In a report on Monday, December 15, the Office of Civil Defense-Negros Island Region (OCD-NIR) said they provided family tents and shelter repair kits, while the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development distributed shelter-grade tarpaulins.
The 84 beneficiaries are among those whose homes suffered extensive damage, or had been completely washed away during the typhoon.
They received the assistance during the ceremonial turnover held on December 11, in the presence of OCD-NIR Regional Director Donato Sermeno III, together with Mayor Marina Javellana-Yao and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office head Dr. Merijene Ortizo.
“These provisions are intended to offer immediate relief to the affected families and help them restore safe and functional living spaces,” the OCD-NIR said.
“The initiative highlights the ongoing commitment of the government and its partners to accompany the communities of Bago City throughout their recovery.”
Earlier this month, the OCD-NIR also turned over vital shelter and relief supplies to the typhoon-hit families in Moises Padilla town.
The assistance included 70 shelter repair kits, 50 shelter-grade tarpaulins, 50 solar lamps, and 30 camping tents.
For the clearing operations, the OCD-NIR provided a total of 14,533 liters of fuel to affected local government units, including the cities of Bago, La Carlota, and Canlaon as well as the municipalities of Binalbagan, La Castellana, and Isabela.
“Through coordinated efforts, we continue to address the urgent recovery needs of the affected families, focusing on both immediate relief and longer-term rehabilitation,” the OCD-NIR said. (PNA)
