A 63-year-old former barangay captain was shot dead by two unidentified assailants at Barangay Patun-an in Negros Occidental’s Calatrava on Monday afternoon, October 6.

According to the Calatrava police, the shooting incident occurred at around 5:00 p.m., while the victim (name withheld) was riding his motorcycle in Sitio Tunga on his way home.

Two unidentified men suddenly appeared and shot him, hitting his left waist.

The victim fell to the ground as the suspects immediately fled the scene.

He was rushed to the Calatrava District Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Police investigators recovered one fired cartridge case and one fired bullet of an unknown firearm caliber from the crime scene.

Authorities are now conducting a follow-up investigation to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive./CJ, WDJ
