Two unidentified male bodies were discovered buried in separate sites at Barangay Cubay in Negros Occidental’s La Carlota City yesterday morning.

At around 8:30 a.m., a roving patrolman named Reynaldo Pilar spotted tracks leading to the middle of the sugarcane plantation in Hacienda San Roque.

Investigating further, Pilar found a digging site and immediately reported it to their office.

Upon verification at 10:10 a.m., the La Carlota City police, led by Lt. Jesica Malata, unearthed the two bodies about 50 meters apart.

One victim was found unclothed with masking tape wrapped around his face and a tattoo on his right shoulder.

The second body was wrapped entirely in tarpaulin and bore multiple wounds on various parts of the body.

The discovery was first reported to the police station by Barangay Cubay Kagawad Kennedy Alpas.

The La Carlota City police have requested assistance from the Scene of the Crime Operatives to process the crime scene.

The site of discovery is approximately 10 kilometers from the police station, located within the sugarcane plantations of Hacienda San Roque, a known agricultural area in La Carlota.

Investigations are ongoing to identify the victims and determine the motive behind the killings.

No suspects have been named so far.

The discovery of the remains is distinct from a previous 2024 incident in the same area where a missing 15-year-old female student was found dead in a sugarcane field, underscoring the need for continued vigilance in the locality.

Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward to aid in the investigation./JB, WDJ
