Cop shoots self after killing live-in partner

A police officer took his own life after fatally shooting his live-in partner at Barangay Poblacion in Negros Occidental’s Valladolid town on Thursday night, March 20.

Valladolid police chief, Captain Bonifacio Galvez, Jr. said the 40-year-old police officer, with a rank of master sergeant, and the 33-year-old woman had a heated argument around 7:00 p.m.

The police officer shot the victim with his service firearm multiple times.

The victim’s 10-year-old child reported witnessing the couple arguing without apparent reason.

Following the crime, the sergeant took his own life by shooting himself in the head.

They were declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

A 9mm firearm was found at the crime scene, identified as the weapon used in the incident.

Golez said the motive behind the crime remains unclear as of press time./JB, WDJ
