Negrense Angel Canino of the De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Spikers expressed confidence that the team is progressing well heading into the second round of the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament eliminations.

The former UAAP MVP noted that her teammates are beginning to make significant contributions, which have been instrumental in their four-game winning streak to close the first round of eliminations with a 5-2 mark.

“‘Yung La Salle naman, hindi puro Angel Canino lang. Naniniwala ako dun,” Canino said in a recent post-game interview.

“I am very happy na maraming nag-step up, and nalalabas na ng bawat isa sa amin ‘yung laro nila,” she said.

“May teamwork na kami. Nasa tamang path kami. Pero at the same time, every game, meron pa rin kaming natututunang bagong lesson para mag-improve ‘yung team. Andoon na kami, pero mas may ilalakas pa kami,” she added.

Canino also remarked that the Lady Spikers have shown considerable improvement since their 25-12, 22-25, 13-25, 25-23, 15-13 defeat to the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses on February 26.

“Mas focused ‘yung team ngayon, mas eager ‘yung team, and mas gutom kami,” Canino said.

“Kahit shaky ‘yung start namin, gusto naming patunayan na meron kaming pangalan na dinadala,” she added./ASC, WDJ
