Silay market vendor nabbed for illegal firearm possession

A 52-year-old market vendor was arrested after authorities discovered an unlicensed firearm and ammunition during a police search at Barangay 2 in Negros Occidental’s Silay City on Saturday, March 15.

Personnel from the Silay Component City Police Station served a search warrant at 11:43 a.m., leading to the arrest of the suspect, identified as “Marivic,” a resident of the area.

Police recovered a .38 caliber revolver along with four live cartridges during the operation.

The search warrant was issued by the Regional Trial Court in Silay City.

The suspect is now in police custody and is set to face charges for violating Republic Act 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./MTL, WDJ
