Bago City Mayor Nicholas Yulo said the fact-finding committee is still deliberating on the results of its investigation into the death of a newborn at the Bago City Hospital.

Yulo confirmed that interviews with the involved parties have been completed and are now being consolidated for review.

This comes after the baby’s father expressed frustration over the delayed release of the investigation results.

However, Yulo assured that no pressure is being placed on the committee to ensure a thorough and impartial outcome.

Meanwhile, the father of a newborn who passed away at Bago City Hospital on February 18, has expressed frustration over the prolonged fact-finding investigation conducted by the City Legal Office.

He claimed that they had been waiting for nearly two weeks for the results.

In a radio interview, the father said he has yet to receive any response regarding his complaint against the hospital’s medical staff.

The parents alleged that some of the attending staff lacked proper training, which they believe that it contributed to the loss of their child.

According to the baby’s death certificate, his cause of death was due to acute respiratory distress syndrome, severe meconium aspiration, and post-maturity.

Concerns have been raised regarding alleged deficiencies in training for midwives and inadequate equipment at the city hospital, which may have contributed to the baby’s death.

According to the child’s mother, she intended to give birth at Valladolid District Hospital, but was redirected by the City Health Office to Bago City Hospital due to an urgent situation.

The mother reported enduring more than 12 hours of labor, and requested a cesarean section due to complications.

However, she claimed that midwives insisted on a normal delivery.

The newborn reportedly ingested contaminated materials, leading to his death./WDJ
